Cybersecurity firm Hudson Rock confirmed the first documented case of infostealer malware successfully stealing a personal AI agent’s complete operating environment.
The target was OpenClaw, a personal AI assistant platform that runs locally on your computer. The malware wasn’t even designed to target AI tools specifically. It used a broad file-grabbing routine to sweep for sensitive files and directories, and it struck gold when it found the .openclaw configuration folder.
It found gold.
What the hackers got:
- Authentication tokens — remote access to the victim’s AI assistant
- Private encryption keys — the ability to impersonate the victim’s device
- The AI’s “soul” file — personality settings and behavioral instructions
- Memory logs — daily activity records, private messages, calendar events
In Hudson Rock’s words: “Infostealers are no longer just looking for your bank login. They are looking for your context.”

This AI agent theft didn’t happen in isolation. The same week, Microsoft patched 6 actively exploited zero-day vulnerabilities, Google patched a Chrome zero-day being used in the wild, and researchers discovered a new commercial spyware kit called ZeroDayRAT being sold openly on Telegram.
The pattern is clear: attackers are getting faster, smarter, and more creative. They’re not just going after your traditional defenses — they’re going after the new tools your team adopted last month.
What You Should Do Right Now
If You’re a Business Owner or Manager:
- Know what AI tools your team is using. Ask. Audit. You can’t protect what you don’t know about.
- Set an AI usage policy. Define what data can and cannot be shared with AI tools. Put it in writing.
- Patch everything. Those 6 Microsoft zero-days? They’re being exploited right now. If your endpoints aren’t patched, you’re exposed.
